Elizabeth Cowell
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in trauma, anxiety, relationship concerns, betrayal trauma, and the lasting impact of painful or overwhelming experiences. I work with adults and couples who may feel stuck in patterns they understand intellectually but still struggle to change emotionally.
My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I integrate EMDR and other evidence-based approaches to help clients process difficult experiences, reduce emotional distress, strengthen relationships, and develop greater self-understanding and self-compassion. For clients who desire it, I also welcome the integration of Christian faith into therapy.
Approach to Therapy
I believe therapy should be a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported while also being gently challenged toward meaningful change. My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed, and I tailor therapy to each person rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. I integrate EMDR and other evidence-based approaches to help clients understand patterns, process painful experiences, reduce distress, and create lasting change. With couples, I help partners identify the deeper patterns driving conflict, rebuild emotional safety and trust, and develop healthier ways of connecting. I recognize that healing involves more than simply managing symptoms. My goal is to help you understand yourself with greater compassion, heal the experiences that continue to affect you, and build relationships and a life that feel more authentic and fulfilling. For clients who desire it, Christian faith can also be thoughtfully integrated into the therapeutic process.
