Approach to Therapy
The counseling theory I work from is a systems approach which views the individual from a micro to macro aspect. Micro meaning the individual has a unique experience within the context of their family of origin. Macro meaning we are shaped by our environment from our family of origin extending to our culture and society. I feel it is important to consider all aspects of an individual's functioning such as physical, spiritual, social, and emotional as part of the process of good mental health. Cognitive behavioral techniques are used consistently to affect change.
