Kristin Gutierrez
Hi, I’m Kristin Gutierrez, a Queer Latina therapist and founder of Comunidad Counseling. I provide culturally responsive virtual counseling for adults throughout Texas, with roots in South Texas and the Corpus Christi area.
I work especially well with BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and neurodivergent adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, identity concerns, life transitions, boundaries, caregiver stress, and intergenerational or cultural wounds. My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, understood, and accepted without having to earn it.
Kristin Gutierrez, M.S., LPC-Associate, NCC, practices under the supervision of Portia Gordon, LPC-S (#86646). Services are currently provided virtually in English.
Approach to Therapy
My approach is person-centered, relational, trauma-informed, and liberation-rooted. That means therapy is collaborative: you are the expert on your life, and my role is to help you understand what you are carrying, identify patterns that no longer serve you, and build choices rooted in self-trust. I consider how culture, identity, relationships, family history, and larger systems shape emotional well-being. Rather than reducing people to diagnoses, I focus on the whole person—their strengths, lived experiences, community, and capacity for growth. I offer warmth and acceptance while also challenging you compassionately when something deserves a closer look. At Comunidad Counseling, we believe healing does not happen in isolation. Healing happens in connection, with care that honors your story, identity, and community.
