I’ve been a mental health counselor for more than 36 years, and I specialize in helping women through betrayal trauma and major life transitions. Discovering a partner’s infidelity, addiction, or abandonment can shake your sense of safety, your trust in your own judgment, and your picture of the future. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you identify the thoughts that keep you stuck, such as self-blame, shame, or the belief that you weren’t enough, and replace them with ones that are accurate and steadying. I combine this with an interpersonal style that is warm, direct, and collaborative. You’ll be treated as a capable adult and a partner in your own healing, and I will be honest with you.

Approach to Therapy

Betrayal trauma is different from other kinds of stress, and it needs a counselor who understands that. When someone you trusted lies, cheats, hides an addiction, or leaves, the damage goes beyond the relationship. You begin to doubt your own judgment, your memory, and your worth. After more than 36 years of working with this, I’ve learned that healing means rebuilding trust in yourself first. Women over 60 are a specialty of mine. Betrayal at this stage of life carries its own weight: decades invested in a marriage, a future you had planned, family and friends who are tangled up in the story, and the question of who you are now. Many women in this age group have spent a lifetime caring for others and have rarely been asked what they need. I understand that, and I don’t treat it as a reason to wait or stay small. It’s a reason to begin. I start where you are. Some clients arrive in crisis, some are numb, and some are angry and ready for answers. I don’t hand anyone a fixed program. Your pace and your goals shape the work. I combine three things: Practical tools. Using CBT, we find the thoughts that keep you stuck, like “I should have known” or “I wasn’t enough,” and test them against what is true. A real working relationship. I’m warm, direct, and honest.
