Megan Collins LMFT ATR-P
I work with people whose lives have been disrupted by illness, injury, pain, disability, loss, and medical experiences that left a mark. Maybe you are grieving the life you expected to have. Maybe you are exhausted from managing symptoms, appointments, uncertainty, other people’s opinions, or the pressure to look “fine” while your body is fighting a battle no one can see. I specialize in medical trauma, chronic pain, chronic disease, disability, and grief. My work is for people who are tired of being dismissed, minimized, or expected to “just stay positive.” Your symptoms are not a character flaw. Your grief is not an inconvenience. And you do not have to earn support by appearing sick enough. As an LMFT and art therapist, I offer a space to process the emotional realities of living in a body that may feel unpredictable, changed, or misunderstood. You do not need artistic talent—just room to be honest. Together, we can make meaning, tend to loss, reconnect with your own voice, and build a life that holds more than survival.
Approach to Therapy
My approach is trauma-informed, relational, creative, and deeply respectful of the mind-body connection. I combine psychotherapy and art therapy with insight-oriented, attachment-focused, and nervous-system-aware care. Art can be especially helpful when medical experiences, pain, or grief feel too big, complicated, or exhausting to explain with words alone. I will not promise to “fix” your body or force toxic positivity into a situation that deserves real compassion. Instead, we will explore what is happening beneath the overwhelm: the fear, anger, isolation, identity shifts, relationship strain, and grief that can accompany chronic illness and disability. Therapy with me can be a place to stop performing resilience. We can honor what has happened, make space for what is still hard, and help you reconnect with agency, self-trust, creativity, and possibility.
